Scrubs Offers Up a New Season on DVD

To fans familiar with the Scrubs show, the season 5 DVDs are an essential to continuing the series. This set hits shelves less than a week after the season finale for the most recent season - six - and keeps home watchers up to speed with the activities of TV's most amusing hospital. The trials and tribulations of these quirky doctors are spread across three disks.

For those who have bought the other DVDs in the series, these offer exactly the high quality of DVD extras found in every season thusfar - even improving upon some of the content from the season 4 disks. The packaging also matches well with the other four seasons. Even the menus match the style from the previous season so collectors enjoy this set as well.

On the first disk fans of The Janitor can enjoy his commentary on an episode. Unfortunately, on the second disk there are no special features, but the third disk includes an extended episode, a featurette, commentary by John C. McGinley (Doctor Cox), and the alternate lines and deleted scenes Scrubs fans have come to anticipate on the season DVDs.

Spend some time reliving JD's first year as an Attending at Sacred Heart, where he turns 30, falls in love with Mandy Moore (guest star, but then-real-life girlfriend), and meets Kim, the woman who has changed his life in season six. Elliot leaves the hospital, but returns soon after and finds a new intern, Keith, to spend time with. Turk and Carla have straightened out their marital difficulties and are working toward having a child, while Doctor Cox faces difficulties after patients die.

So, what can the uninitiated anticipate in this season? Laughs, but also a bit of seriousness as the doctors spend another year growing up. The writers have attempted to take on a number of important issues, from aging to connecting with their patients and working on relationships -- in and out of work.
