Having had very good luck with the Mueller Adjust-To-Fit Ankle Brace, I decided to try Mueller's Compression Gloves as well with the hopes that they would do for my wrists what the other braces did for my ankles. Unfortunately, I had no such luck.

Mueller says that the Compression Gloves are good for both arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome, and that they "provide compression for weak or aching hands and wrists." Having Rheumatoid Arthritis, I did not find this to be true at all.

The Compression Gloves are fingerless, with 3 holes: one for your thumb, one for your index finger, and the big one for your other three fingers. This makes them so that they fit either hand and are easy to put on. They do provide full range of movement. The wrist part is a long, wide Velcro strip which wraps around the wrist as tight or as loose as you want it.

The fabric is breathable, but I can't find the exact components... except for the parts that contain natural rubber latex (listed because some folks are allergic to it).

These Compression Gloves come two to a pack for about 8 bucks and are a light beige in color so they sorta kinda blend in with your skin.. kinda. I can live with the look pretty well. At my age, and with this damn Rheumatoid Arthritis, my main concern is comfort. heh.

Mueller offers these gloves in two sizes: Small 6½ - 7½ (16.5 - 19 cm) and Medium 7½ - 8½ (19 - 21.5 cm). I bought the small size, being fairly petite and all. The gloves are ultra light-weight and scrunch up quite nicely to carry in your purse, so they would be convenient if they actually did a damn thing...

So what's the problem? Well, they don't work. Not for me anyway. I saw no reduction in pain at all in my wrists while wearing these gloves. They really don't give you any wrist support while typing or carrying groceries... or anything for that matter. In fact, I find them pretty uncomfortable. They make my hands feel claustrophobic. Yeah yeah that doesn't make sense but it's the best way I can describe it to you.

I bought my first pair of these gloves over a year ago and love them. They have been very helpful for me in reducing the pain in my hands and wrists from osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. I spend 8+ hours a day at a computer keyboard typing for a living, and could not do it without these gloves. The first time I put them on I did not think I would be able to tolerate them, but after wearing them awhile, I find they are so comfortable that I often leave them on for other tasks around the house. They provide enough support to my hand and wrists to reduce the pain and and yet allow me free movement and increase my ability to do many tasks I could not do otherwise. They are much less expensive than similar gloves and an extremely good value for the price.

Hmm, never heard of these. I agree that they sound horrible. Thanks for sharing. You may save someone some money.

I've used compression gloves for rheumatoid arthritis for over 10 years... but not this type, the fingerless. They just don't work. The full-finger ones with long wrists are best, and I have trouble if I don't wear mine, even just through the night--I can open medicine bottles in the morning if I wear them. And amazingly, I can still type at work if I need them, just a little slower. And I type for my living...

I have weak hands and wrists, and these definitely help me with sports. That's all I use them for, and they definitely help me.

I don't think I could handle these even if they did work. They just sound terrible. Thanks for filling us in.

Claustophobic makes perfect sense; kind of like wearing plastic gloves to wash dishes, clean or when working in health care or food service industries. I think the only answer for RA is not to get it in the first place!

Thanks for the heads up.

Those sound just awful! Great review.

Ugh- they sound horrible. Maybe the point is to try to convince you arthritis is a better deal than wearing the gloves. :)
