Many people in the workplace, regardless of their level of professional experience need to analyze how much they serve as a team player. Many of us view ourselves as team players when in the end our colleagues don't view us in that same way. Many of us view ourselves in the work place how we want to view ourselves instead of seeing the reality. When determining if you truly are a team player in your office, you should consider several of the following issues.Know Your Role In The Office
Do you know what your role is in the office? Do others come to you for assistance and help more quite often? Do they view you as a mentor? If so, then a leadership role is a good one to take. You also need to consider if you have leadership characteristics. If you are not comfortable in a leadership role you can still guide your coworkers but in a less visible role. Maybe you feel more comfortable being a contributor than a leader. You have a great sense of accomplishment when your team succeeds in a task, but don't want the headlines. All of these are different characteristics individuals have. While they can be changed slightly, these still are your over riding personality characteristics and you will most likely be happier if you are true to yourself. Your personality characteristics play a strong part in determining your role in the office, along with the duties of your position. Don't get so caught up in your work description that you forget who you are.
