Kings Dominion Amusement Park is located in Doswell, Virginia, which is twenty miles North of Richmond.(75 miles South of Washington, D.C.) The best way to locate it other than using a map, is to look for the replica Eiffel Tower on the side of Interstate 95. This amusement park boasts over 400 acres of family entertainment, and there are over fifty rides here to choose from. Although my son is only 8 months old, I plan on taking him here when he gets a bit older.

My experience with kid events is limited, but Kings Dominion does offer a lot of entertainment for the little ones. They have shows involving the dog Blue, and other cartoon characters. There are a lot of these "characters" walking around the park grounds as well. There is a special part of the park that has all kids rides and entertainment. The rides include the Scooby-Doo Haunted Mansion, Rugrats Turnpike(kids can drive these little cars around the circle), bumper cars, tree swing, Scooby Doo Roller Coaster(which is actually a lot of fun even for adults-I've ridden it many times), and a Kidzville area where children can play games and in events.

Families will like Kings Dominion for this, and for the variety of rides catering to the whole bunch. There is a log flume ride with a good sized drop at the end, where you get soaked as you pull in. That is a lot of fun, but not scary for younger family members. There's a space surfer ride, where you fly over 90 feet up above trees. Its quite fast, and make sure you don't eat too much junk food before going on it! There's also the Eiffel Tower replica that you can go up in and get great views, and a Blue Ridge Tollway Ride. This is a lot of fun for seniors in the family as well, as you and the kids can drive antique gas powered cars in a circular area. (There's rails that prevent you from driving all over the place!) If you like carousels, there is a big one which has many different animals to prop yourself on.
