We have two Chihuahuas. One is a normal weight 5-6 lbs, the other looks like a loaf of bread on sticks. He was almost 11 lbs when we got him. He also had genetic defects, luxating patella. This is a knee joint that blows and being overweight just exacerbated the condition. It was extremely important for his pphysical well being that we reduce his weight.Due to the knee problem, exercise had to be limited so his food intake was the more likely way to reduce his weight. He is now about 8 lbs since we put him on the Nutro Natural Choice Lite Dry Dog Food.

We chose Nutro Choice Lite Dry Dog Food for several reasons. The Nutro company philosophy is simple: They constantly strive to provide better ingredients and better nutrition for better health, no matter what the cost. The crude protein content is 14%. A calorie amount is given on the package but since our dogs ar small and only one is overweight we are really guess-timating the calories they ar receiving. For better digestion we break their meals into morning and evening servings. The calories in Nutro are 14% less then regular kibble and we only add low calorie food to the kibble, chicken broth, Parmesan cheese or cooked carrots. We also give them vegetable treats or at best one little biscuit mid day.

Nutro contains Glucosamine and Chondroitin for healthy joints.
Nutro has natural ingredients with vitamins and minerals .
Nutro is scientifically formulated for healthy skin and shiny coat
Especially important is the fact Nutro has no chicken by-products

Takeaways

good article. We have two Japanese Chin and they did not like this food. We switched over to Innova Evo and have never looked back.
