Ambien - My Story of Experiencing the Hallucination Side Effect!

Ambien - Given to me in hospital before having my baby, made me hallucinate!

Ambien is a drug to help relieve sleeplessness and insomnia. If I would have had good experiences with this drug, I'd be looking into getting a prescription as I suffer sleeplessness quite often.

Like most prescription drugs there are many things you must tell your doctor before taking Ambien. For example, tell your doctor if you are depressed, drink alcohol frequently, pregnant or have any lung or liver diseases as well as many more. Ambien interacts
with many other drugs as well, so be sure to notify your doctor of anything you are taking, prescription or not. Non-prescription, diet supplements and herbal supplements need to be discussed as well.

Side effects of Ambien include but are not limited to: vision changes, restlessness, depressed mood, confusion and of course, hallucinations! These are only a few, but I do not understand why they cannot make a drug that has fewer crazy side effects?

I was in the hospital getting ready to have my first child and she was going to be early but only because I had pre-eclampsia. The first night I was there they said they were going to give me something to help me sleep. I didn't mind, only because I do not like hospitals whatsoever, so I figured if I could just pass out it wouldn't bother me so much.

My partner was there with me, and he pulled his chair up by my bed to sleep. Shortly after they gave me the Ambien, I could feel it kicking in. I wasn't quite ready to go to sleep, even though I guess I had no choice in the matter. But I laid there with my eyes closed for just a few minutes it felt like, and then I opened them, I can't remember why, but I look over at my partner, and everything is moving! He had a pillow in front of him and it was moving along with everything else in the room.

I have never taken any hard drugs, or any drug that makes you hallucinate as the thought always scared the crap out of me, so here I am, seeing things moving and I literally freak out. I attempt to wake up my partner but he's sound asleep and sleeps like a log anyways, so I finally closed my eyes and concentrated on breathing until I finally fell asleep.

So I am just waking up from my night of hallucination so I thought I would documented it on here. I think mine are a little crazier than anyones on here. I see things that aren't there. I will take my Ambien(10mg) which I take along with my Seroquel (200-300mg). I never get hallucinations immediately or within 30 minutes. I might get one every month. Anyway people are in my room, that aren't, things are flying in my room, that aren't, I text on my phone constanstly and smoke cigarettes during hallucinations. One time I didn't even remember having one until I woke up and remembering going to bed with a full pace of cigs and waking up with 3. Crazy drug. I think I might change it.

I found your page because I hallucinated BIG TIME on this stuff twice. Before, it was just crazy dreams. Last night, however, I took it and attempted to stay awake (I wanted to take a bath before bed). Jeepers - the faucet fixtures started "moving" and then I was convinced there were people on the roof (although oddly enough I wasn't as scared as I should've been). I thought the window was being removed so I kept staring at it, watching it "move." And I kept shining a flashlight at the window to see if anyone was outside (I almost thought I dreamt this part but the flashlight was definitely moved this morning). VERY BIZARRE but I DID sleep like a baby afterwards!

I have been taking ambien at 10 mg on and off since back problems and operation. Wow I thought I was going nuts. The first time I took ambien and hopped in the shower for a quick shower before bed the shower floor turned wavy and I found it hard to keep my balance. Then a couple of nights ago I took it and I hallucinated that my bf was all soft and hairy, then out side my backyard scenery changed b4 my eyes wow word of advice get in bed right after taking and close your eyes NOT SAYING THIS IS A BAD THING JUST SAYING BE REDAY

I am a (young) teenager, and i have just recently been in a car accident. i am perscribed to take 20mg of ambien every night because i cannot sleep if i do not take it. Personally, i like the hallucinations. my piano keys start moving places and the bed is moving. I don''t mind, it makes my nights more interesting. On the other hand, it has gotten me into some weird situations. talking to people i would never talk to, saying things i never would. i also get this light pressury feeling in my stomach. it is very odd. I have tried other sleeping medications before (Lunesta and sonata) and neither work. The ambien is not a prolem for me, really. i like it. but people (like this author) should really be more informed of the side effects. she was pregnant for god's sake! thank you for reading.
