The Smart Car is Coming

Goes on Sale in 2008

In 36 countries around the globe the Smart Car is selling with huge success, with over 750,000 units sold since its introduction the Smart Car is gaining in popularity. So when is the USA going to get its crack at owning the Smart Car? Well next year is the projected date for Smart Car
sales to start in the United States. Who will be first in line to get their hands on one of these little cars?

The Smart Car is a division of the Mercedes Car Group, they invented the fortwo cars for the economically minded people around the world. The Smart Car will get about 40 MPG under normal driving conditions which is pretty good when gas is $3.40 a gallon. Smart Cars are the smallest cars I have ever seen they measure only 8.8 feet long by 5.1 feet tall and 5.1 feet wide. The Smart Car isn't a fast car by any means with a top speed of only 90 MPH don't expect to win any races.

The Smart Car is not only economic its cheap, you can get one of three models all priced under $20,000. The basic model is called the smart fortwo pure and it starts out under $12,000. The middle model is call the smart fortwo passion coupe and will be under $14,000. The final model is the smart fortwo passion cabrio and will be under $17,000. If you are interested in reserving your very own Smart Car you can click on this link and for only $99 you can make sure you will be one of the first people in the United States to get one of these cars.

The Smart Car is a small economy car but it does have a surprising amount of space for storage in the trunk. You can actually fit up to 8 cubic feet worth of stuff in the back end of the Smart Car and if you fill it to the roof line you can increase that to 12 cubic feet, which should fit most people's life styles just fine. It is only a two seater so it won't work for large families.

I agree with some other comments that it seems you can get the same mileage for a cheaper price, but still a very interesting article and an interesting car!

Great article!...but hey unless everyone on the road is driving one and commercial trucks have their own road far away from the little cars I wouldn't be willing! YIKES! This car and SUV and SUV wins BIG whatever the safety tests say and I live in SUV land! Wish the car would've been a non fossil fuel car as the latest and the greatest that will be sold in the US. Still waiting...

40 MPG? My 2000 Saturn SL1 gets that! That's the best they can do? I wouldn't be the least suprised if the ones in Europe get better gas mileage than the ones they're planning on selling here in the states. LOL
