The Black Donnelly's: NBC Doesn't Know What Their Losing

The Black Donnelly's is a gritty new drama that premiered on NBC in February of this year. The show follows four Irish brothers as they struggle to survive mob wars, forbidden love, drug abuse and family squabbles. Every episode is told to you through the narration of Joey "Ice Cream", a friend of the brothers. When oldest brother Jimmy Donnelly kidnaps an Italian mob boss's nephew for ransom, a feud erupts which put second brother Tommy in the middle. Caught between staying on the straight and narrow or helping his brother out of another mess, he finds himself immersed in a situation that threatens to overcome both he and his brothers, while at the same time dealing with his love for his childhood friend, Jenny Reilly. With both the Italian's and the Irish mobs looking to remedy the situation in their own way, Tommy begins to realize that it's just a matter of time before tensions erupt and he's forced to do things he doesn't want to do. That time comes when his youngest brother Shawn is beaten and nearly killed, an apparent revenge for the kidnapping. Now Tommy is faced with a choice: allow Jimmy to be taken out for his actions or take matters into his own hands to protect his family at any cost.
