It has been said that with the advance of feminism, chivalry has hightailed it into the hills. Usually this is nothing more than a deliberate misunderstanding of the common sense demands that women be treated with equality when it comes to job performance, schooling, and opportunity. While we're on the subject, it does not mean that good manners should take a hike! Instead, women understand that the idea of equality does not give license to a rise in bad behavior and thoughtlessness that so many seem to attribute to it.

For this reason it is not surprising that many women will be able to tell within minutes on a first date whether they are sitting across from Mr. Right, or if the spark simply is not there. If you have a hard time picking up on the "right vibes," here are three succinct tips that will signal you if you are on a first date with Mr. Right, or just another one of many.

If your date is picking you up from your home, or meeting you someplace else to jointly go to the destination of choice, is he just honking the horn or whistling out of his car window to let you know he is there? If so, you have just found Mr. Wrong. It is rude for a gentleman not to leave his car and pick up his date in person. Whistling might work for dogs, but it is doubtful that you want it applied to you. Add to this the fact that a first date is made for first impressions; it is somewhat frightening what he will do on your tenth date, when good impressions are somewhat on the backburner.

Carefully look over your first date's clothing - make allowances for an inability to match colors, a style that might be outdated, or even a few traces of repairs. There is nothing wrong with mended, yet clean clothing. If, on the other hand, your date presents himself in wrinkled, stained, and damaged clothes that show no signs of attempts at repair, then you have someone on your hands who does not care how he looks or is unable to afford a drycleaner. This is definitely not Mr. Right.

Look for common courtesies. Is he opening doors for you, waiting until you are seated before sitting down himself, and allowing you to walk ahead of him? If the answer is yes, then you might have found Mr. Right.

Will he open the door for you?
