I want to sing praises to Robitussin Cough and Congestion brand of cough syrup. I truly believe it prevented me from getting sick enough to go to the emergency room of the hospital. See my story below:

I recently had cold symptoms. I had cough and congestion with a nonproductive cough that just would not go away. Each day I was getting progressively worse. I've had problems getting sick with colds since I was young; and when they won't go away, they usually build until I come down with a good case of pneumonia. A couple of weeks ago, I was feeling really bad. I didn't have money to go to the doctor, and I was beginning to sound like I had a bubble machine in my chest. I was wheezing really bad, coughing, and even though there was fluid within my chest, I was unable to cough anything up.

I sent my daughter to the drug store to pick up some Robitussin. I wasn't sure what formula to buy, so I told her to read the labels. She saw the one for cough and congestion and bought that. She brought it home and I took the recommended dose and went to lie down. Prior to my taking the medicine I was not able to sleep because I was constantly coughing. My ribs and chest hurt from the muscle strain of coughing. But after the first dose, I didn't cough quite so much, and I did get some rest.

Several hours later I took the second dose. I'm happy to say I slept through the night. I coughed some and slept some. But the next day I didn't feel quite so bad. When I did cough now, I was able to get up some of the secretions up that were trapped inside my lungs. The bubbling within my chest began to subside. I would never suggest someone as sick as I was to NOT see their doctor, but since I had no choice, I did what I needed to do to help myself. I am happy to say it worked for me.

I've often heard the worse a medicine tastes the better it is. Well, I've got to say, Robitussin Cough and Congestion does not taste great, but it is tolerable. I noticed that within an hour or two of taking it, I was feeling some relief. Within a couple of days I was much better. When I made a regular scheduled doctor's visit last week, my doctor stated my lungs were clear.
