Honeymooning in Naples, Florida
When we got engaged in 2006, one of the first things I couldn't wait to plan was the honeymoon! In the past, I have always planned my vacations to be filled with things to do, places to go and of course great places to eat! However, I knew that after my wedding I would probably rather
just sit back and relax. To make things as easy as possible, we decided to stay in the US. Wanting some place warm, we choose Florida. But why did we choose Naples? That is the question EVERYONE asked! We researched online and quickly learned that the east coast of FL is the best place to go party, but it was the west coast you'd want to be at if you were looking to relax. On all the websites I read, Naples sounded like the most relaxing place in FL so we booked our tickets and were ready to go (after a bit more planning of course!)
Does a relaxing honeymoon or vacation in a warm sunny place sound like just the thing for you? If so, then read on for a detailed itinerary, filled with tips, to help you know what to expect when you plan your next trip to Naples, FL.
We arrived on Monday, May 7th, 2007 at the Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers. Tip#1: Even though there is an airport in Naples, FL, you will probably not find a good price to fly into the airport. Flights are 4x as much to go to Naples airport. Flying into Fort Myers will save you a load of money, and it's a very easy 45 minute drive to Naples. We got into Naples by 7. Since it was so late, we checked into our hotel and decided to stay in for the evening. Our hotel was the beautiful and quiet Bellasera Resort which is about 1 mile away from Naples Pier and the Gulf of Mexico. Tip #2: Staying on the water may be nice, but the Bellasera Resort offers a much cheaper price, condo style rooms, and it is not that far at all from the Gulf.
