Pres. Bush's "I Did Not Have Sexual Relations with that Woman" Moment

Okay, all you people who got thrown into a hissy fit when Pres. Clinton said of Monica Lewinsky "I did not have sex with that woman" should now be even more outraged. After all, Clinton was lying about his sex life.

Pres. Bush has now topped Clinton's bald-faced lie by about a thousand degrees. At an uncharacteristic town meeting in which Bush actually allowed questions to be asked by people other than seven year old sons of Republican fundraisers (coincident with the latest poll numbers showing his support now to be roughly equal to his IQ), Pres. Bush fielded a question from a man who shot down all the reasons that Bush had given to justify his terrorist invasion of Iraq, a sovereign country which presented no threat to the US. One of the justifications that the man referred to was Bush's linkage of Iraq and Saddam Hussein to 9/11.

Here was Bush's response: "First, just if I might correct a misperception, I don't think we ever said - at least I know I didn't say that there was a direct connection between September the 11th and Saddam Hussein."

Let us compare this statement with these words written by Pres. Bush and delivered to Congress on March 21, 2003, almost exactly to the day three years prior to the above statment: "The use of armed forces against Iraq is consistent with the United States and other countries continuing to take the necessary actions against international terrorists and terrorist organizations, including those nations, organizations or person who planned, authorized, committed, or aided the terrorist attacks that occurred on September 11, 2001."

In addition, in his State of the Union address in January in the months leading to the invasion, Bush connected Saddam Hussein, Iraq and 9/11 within a span of less than ten words on two separate occasions.
