Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock Versus Banana Faces Plus Oil-Free Sunblock
Embed:
I bought a tube of Banana Boat's Faces Plus Oil-Free Sunblock in order to protect my face from the sun. The tube said that it protected against UVA and UVB rays and was non-comedogenic (won't clog pores) but the first week I used it my face wound up breaking out. After giving my skin a break from it and then using it again, my face became accustomed to it and I no longer suffered from the break outs. I did find the Banana Boat Sunblock to be really thick and hard to apply. Sometimes it would leave my skin looking pasty and white, especially if my face was really dry before I put on. So I'd really have to rub it in thoroughly for a couple of minutes in order to get it too soften and thoroughly absorb into my skin. Other than that I really had no problems with the sunscreen. It left my skin feeling moisturized and my skin never looked oily or greasy with it. The Banana Boat Sunscreen didn't run or get into my eyes even when allergy season rolled around, and my eyes were watery for a couple of weeks.
When I ran out of this sunblock late last summer, I decided to buy a tube of Neutrogena's Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock after reading in a magazine that Neutrogena's sunblocks were going to contain Helioplex, an active stabilizer that allowed the sunblock to last longer (though it still should be re-applied every 2-4 hours) and not break down as quickly in the sun. The first tube that I bought unfortunately was older and didn't contain the Helioplex. Furthermore since the tube was probably a few months old when I bought, after about two months the sunblock began to separate in the tube. One day I went to apply it and found that it had become half oil, half cream so I had to purchase another one.
This time I found the Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock with Helioplex and bought it. It's pretty much the same formula as the last tube of Ultra Sheer only it contains the Helioplex. The sunblock overall is much thinner than the Banana Boat Brand, it doesn't make my skin look pasty and it absorbs into my skin easily. But for some reason Neutrogena's Sunblock feels much heavier and warmer on my skin than the Banana Boat Sunblock.
