Spray it 6-8 inches away from you, and focus the spray on your clothes. The spray is very strong, and it is easy to be blanketed with minimal effort. All you have to do is depress the green button for about 30 seconds, and you should be good to go. Its also okay to spray on skin, but keep away from your eyes, nose, and mouth as there are chemicals that are not safe to be ingested. There are detailed instructions on first aid, in case you somehow miss! The major ingredient in this product is DEET, which has been around for years as an effective insect repellent. Don't get fire too close-this stuff is extremely flammable.
