Blog Catalog and Donor's Choose Help Kids and Schools!
Blog Catalog is a fabulous premiere blog directory. Participants can use it to promote their own blogs or to find blogs promoting content on many different topics. But on Monday, May 28, 2007, bloggers from Blog Catalog will be going one step further. Blog Catalog is helping to promote
a fundraising drive for children and schools all over the United States via Donor's Choose, an organization which promotes proposals made my teachers and schools to fund various needs in U.S schools. Donors can choose to donate to students and schools in New Orleans or any proposal of their choice.
Schools in our country are currently in financial crisis. Teachers struggle to meet the demands of No Child Left Behind while buying supplies for their classrooms out of pocket. As a teacher, I can attest to this. My students come to school without basic supplies such as paper and pencils, and my classroom budget barely allows for Kleenex let alone filling these needs. Conditions in inner city schools are even worse.
Public school budgets are stretched beyond their limits. Thus, Donors Choose and Blog Catalog, whose members are all over the world, are responding to help meet this need. Browse through the list of proposals on the website, and you will get a glimpse of just how huge the need is.
Propsals range from helping students and schools affected by Hurrican Katrina to helping an ESL teacher in an inner city Chicago high school obtain a computer for her classroom. Donors can browse proposals by region, grade level, subject, cost, type of resource, type of school, type of teacher, or special categories such as special education.
