Having a wedding reception is a special time to celebrate the union between two special people. Preparing for a successful wedding reception at a restaurant can be overwhelming and stressful. There are many things to organize and for many this is the first and only wedding reception that they will be planning. I have come up with simple tips on how to prepare for a wedding reception at a restaurant.

Make a list of people who are invited. A list will help determine how many people will be at the party. That way you can decide how much food and place settings you will need. This will also help you decide how big of a place you will need to have the party. Too small of a place can create discomfort for you and your guests.

Create a budget. With a budget you will know upfront how much money you have to spend on different things such as the food and entertainment. A budget will also help you not over spend and be in debt right after your married.

Decide which restaurant to have the reception. Once you have decided how many people will be attending you can think about which restaurant will be nice and big enough to have a wedding reception. For a restaurant you will need advanced notice for booking especially if it is a popular place. I would suggest calling the location as soon as you know how many people you are inviting.

Buy decorations. What types of decorations you decide on depend on different factors such as the restaurant selected and how much money you have for your reception. For example, you will probably have to purchase fewer decorations if the reception is going to be at a small restaurant with a few people. You can purchase decorations at any craft store. The dollar tree is a wonderful place to buy wedding decoration for a bargain of a price.

Have entertainment. Think about how you want to entertain others. Some popular wedding entertainment is hiring a DJ, a band and a solo performer such as a violinist.
