If you plan on coming to Vegas for summer vacation, there are some simple, but necessary precautions you should take.
Provide pertinent contact information to family members
Make sure that you leave important information with your family members or friends prior to leaving on your vacation to Vegas. They need the hotel address and telephone number, your cell phone number, if applicable, and any other information that lets them know where you can be reached. Call them daily to give them some idea of your itinerary. Make sure the hotel you are staying in has the contact information of your family, in the event of an emergency.
Be aware of your surroundings
Tourists can sometimes be so preoccupied with enjoying themselves that they let their guard down. This is something criminals bank on. The fact is that you have to be aware of your surroundings in this city. Doing so will keep you safe. I always advise my family members and friends who decide to rent a car when they get to town to use valet parking. It may cost a little extra, but it keeps you from having to walk through lonely, unfamiliar parking lots alone or having to park in far end areas of the parking lot that are poorly lit . Also, keep your handbag, purse or wallet close to your body and hold on to it securely.
