Nudist Groups Looking for Younger Members

"We Don't Want the Place to Turn into a Gated Assisted Living Facility"

What do you think of when you think of nudist colonies? I think of two things. I remember an episode of Rocko's Modern Life and the movie Euro Trip. A bunch of creepy old guys are waiting for any young naked girl to come on by and join them. Apparently, the people who run
nudist colonies are worried about my conception of them and want to do something about it.

According to Yahoo! News, nudist groups are trying to bring in younger members. They want more college age students to join in on the naked fun. Membership director at Solar Recreation League, Gordon Adams, said, "We don't want the place to turn into a gated assisted living facility." The nudist camp invited students from local New England colleges to a special event to let them know what being nude is all about. The average age of this camp happens to be 55. Nice and wrinkly. The group also happens to charge less money for college age students. Membership is $500 dollars yearly for those 40+ while college ages students pay just $150 dollars. What a deal! They are paying for peoples naked bodies. Old, used ones are valued at 500 and new models are around 150. Great message.

A big problem is young people don't feel comfortable with a bunch of naked old people. Sam Miller, medical student and American Association for Nude Recreation member, said, "If a young person is enlightened enough to go to a beach or resort, they'll find that they're outnumbered by people who are not like them. Often times they won't go back for that reason." The word enlightened catches the eye. People who belong to a nudist colony believe they are more enlightened than us normal, clothed folk. Kind of like a big naked calling from God. Laura Groezinger is a young person who believes she has achieved nude nirvana. She said, "I think people think that we're all hippies. Other people, I don't know the right way to say this, but they think it's more sexual, kind of. They don't understand just the being free with your body and being comfortable." This young woman happened to grow up in a nudist colony. What a weird way to grow up.

We used to have neighbors who ran a nudist camp. When they were away from the place you'd never guess there was anything different about them. The people who are into going to nudist colonies/resorts all claim it isn't sexual but the very fact that this article is talking about "old worn out bodies" compared to younger bodies certainly sounds like not everyone is buying in to that. If nudist colonies aren't really about sex and voyeurism then the way bodies look should not even be an issue---and I believe it isn't for the true nudist. I personally think that younger people aren't going to the nudist colonies and resorts in the same numbers as they used to do----the people who are in their 50's now---is because society accepts more near nudity in our every day lives. Why go some where to pay money when you can get away with wearing a string up your butt and calling it a swim suit? Why pay for to go to a resort when you can get "Girls Gone Wild" videos on late night TV?
