Review of Doc's Barbeque in Columbia, SC

Just a few miles from the South Carolina State House in downtown Columbia, lays one of the states best barbeque restaurants. Doc's barbeque is an all you can eat barbeque buffet. From the moment you walk in the door of Doc's, you realize that it is going to be a wonderful experience, with several very large barbeque related photographs along with the steaming hot buffet. The low price of nine dollars will get you access to wonderful barbeque buffet. While some barbeque buffets focus solely on the barbeque, Doc's provides numerous tasty sides to accompany the main course.

From the moment you get in the buffet line, you know you are about to feast on a buffet that includes all of your barbeque desires. Two of the most traditional barbeque sides start off the buffet, baked beans and cold slaw. While I was not able to try the baked beans, the cold slaw was some of the best that I have ever had. Continuing down the buffet the customer will find hash and rice, green beans, black eyed peas, fried okra, and macaroni and cheese. Although the sides are delicious, you better not eat too much because the main course promises to be even better.

There are three types of meat on the buffet that will serve as the buffet's main course. First on the buffet are the fried catfish bites. The batter of the catfish adds a slight hint of flavor, but it does not take away from the taste of the catfish itself. If the barbeque is what you came for, then some of the state's finest is what you will receive. There are two different kinds of barbeque on the buffet: an original flavor and a more spicy kind. The original is my favorite because it is very moist and has great flavor. If the barbeque alone doesn't provide enough flavor, then Doc's offers two different kinds of sauces to accompany the barbeque. Doc's offers a mustard base sauce that is somewhat sweet and tangy and a ketchup based sauce.
