KP's Deli Offers a Uniquely Delicious Take on the Vietnamese Sandwich

For someone who has a distinct aversion to pork (besides apple-smoked bacon) I have never been so baffled by my addiction to KP's top sandwhich the Kold Kut ($5.55), which boasts Pork Meat, Jambon, Paté, Pickled Carrots & Daikon, Cucumber, Cilantro, Maggi Sauce & Mayo, all on a deliciously toasted Saigon Sesame Baguette. Perhaps it's the mysterious Maggi Sauce whose titular origins are still unknown to me, or perhaps it's the combination of fresh cilantro and tangy daikon that just makes your mouth happy. Whatever it is, the Kold Kut remains KP's best selling sandwich, and rightfully so. I rarely stray from this masterpiece.
The shrimp chips (try the samples) make a great complement to all the sandwiches as well.
Okay, fine. The one time, I strayed, I got the Vegetarian Banh Mi ($6.00), which substitutes the meat with tofu. But this isn't your average market brand/tasteless and bland tofu, KP's uses a magic tofu meat that tastes like meat! It's rich, delicious, and meaty.... like what you would imagine tofu to taste like if you actually liked it. It's also healthy, and beats the hell out of a vegetarian burger from In & Out. For those of you who don't know this, In & Out just provides a bun and lettuce, hardly what I would consider a decent meal. Also available are Spring Rolls with both meat and vegetarian options.
For those of you who are not as fearless with exotic tastes, the deli also features an assortment of classic American sandwiches like Ham and Cheese and the delectable Chicken Apple Sausage sandwich.
As for libations, KPs has got stocked almost all of the colorful array of fashionable vitamin waters. juices, and sodas. But my personal favorite is the foreign brand Jasmine Green tea ($1). I eventually bought a case, because I quickly became addicted to its sweetly subtle taste, which makes an perfectly appetizing duo with a Banh Mi. The Vietnamese iced coffee is also quite tasty if you're in need of a quick caffeine fix.
