Located in the heart of Louisville, on more than 100 lush acres, you will find The Louisville Zoo. The Louisville Zoo, also known as "Kentucky's State Zoo", is a non-profit zoo, and is a member of American Association of Musems (AAM), as well as the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

The Louisville Zoo currently is home to more than 1,300 animals. All of whom are displayed in their natural setting. As you make your way through the zoo you will be amazed by the magnificent animal exhibits. Among the exhibits at the zoo are The Islands, Gorilla Forest, Lorikeet Landing, and Wallaroo Walkabout.

The Islands is a rotating exhibit of multiple species, and is home to only species who are endangered or threatened. The Islands are designed to replicate life in the Indonesian wilderness. Among the animals you will find on display in The Islands are Babirusa, Oragutans, Siamang, Tapir, and Sumatran Tigers.

Gorilla Forest is an award winning four-acre exhibit, and perhaps one of the most ambitious projects to ever take place at The Louisville Zoo. Gorilla Forest is home to eleven Western Lowland Gorillas, and two pygmy hippos.

Lorikeet Landing is among the newest exhibits at the Louisville Zoo, and is home to many amazing Australian Lorikeets. Lorikeet Landing also allows you to interact directly with the Lorikeets by feeding them nectar from your hand.

Wallaroo Walkabout is the newest exhibit at the Louisville Zoo, and is set to open in June of this year. Wallaroo Walkabout is just past Lorikeet Landing, and is in the space where the previous Wallaroo habitat was located. At the Wallaroo Walkabout you will find The Red-Necked Wallaby, Kookaburras, Wallaroos, Emus, and the Tawny Frogmouth.

In addition to these exhibits you will also find a variety of other animals including Antelope, Polar Bears, Dromedary Camels, African and Asian Elephants, Gazelles, Giraffes, Hippos, African Lions, Rhinos, Sea Lions, Wooly Monkeys, Seals, Siberian Tigers, and Zebras.
