My husband and I found "Kelsey's Deli & Sea Grill" Restaurant quite by accident and decided to stop in for lunch since we were both starving. The restaurant is located at 5310 George Washington Memorial Highway, in the Washington Square Shopping Center, of York County (Yorktown), Virginia.

The hostess was not at her station when we arrived so we seated ourselves in a nearby booth. The dining area was somewhat dingy with age and the tables and booths definitely could use an upgrade. However, the place looked like somewhere that nearby residents probably enjoyed dropping in for a quiet home-cooked meal and friendly conversation.

Kelsey's is open for breakfast on Saturday and Sunday from 7:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. (Saturday) and 7:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. (Sunday). It begins serving lunch at 11:00 a.m. and continues through 5:00 p.m. all week long. Dinner is served from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m., Monday through Sunday.

Our waitress was prompt, delivering our menus and complimentary bread and butter pickles, as well as taking our drink orders. I settled on a mushroom-Swiss with chips while my husband opted for one of his favorites - - the reuben - - with fries. Here is a cross section of their menu:

Appetizers range in price from $3.50 to $5.75 and include:

Buffalo Wingers in mild, medium, and hot;
Chicken Tenders in regular or Buffalo style;
Cheese Sticks (Monterey Jack battered and fried and served with ranch);
Basket of Rings (beer battered, fried, and served with ranch);
Chips and Salsa (fresh fried tortillas with homemade salsa);
Crab Con Queso (fresh fried tortillas and a blend of cheese and Mexican spices with lots of crabmeat);
Potato Skins (fried golden brown and topped with bacon and cheddar with sour cream); and
Combination Platter (cheese sticks, chicken tenders, Buffalo wings, and potato skins).

Soup & Salad range in price from $5.25 and $6.50 and include:

Every time I hear the word 'Deli' I begin craving a nice hot pastrami the old fashioned way: dripping with grease and plenty of mustard.

I've gotta stop reading restaurant reviews at bedtime. Now I'm thinking about food again.
