27 year-old Edwin Cordero Jr. started his day as he would any other, but ended it by killing one and injuring three others. Saturday morning, Edwin Cordero Jr. sprayed an array of gunfire into a car and others that were standing by, as reported by The Associated Press.

Officers who responded to the shooting had been handling another call at a nearby bar that had nothing to do with the shooting. The shooting that took place happened in a working-class neighborhood according to police officers. Perth Amboy police officer Ganagioti Bouleris told Cordero to drop his gun. Cordero however did not comply to the officers request, and proceeded to shoot himself in the neck. Officer Bouleris at the same time fired five shots as reported by the prosecutors office and The Associated Press.

One woman who was in the car that Cordero was shooting into was killed. Her name has not been released due to family members being notified. Three other people whose names have not been released were taken to area hospitals to be treated. One of the victims who had been shot in the leg had already been treated and released. While the other two remain in the hospital after having surgery, as reported by The Associated Press.

Laura Ruiz, the wife of John Ruiz who had been shot in the leg, declined to speak to authorities regarding how the shooting occurred. All she said was "Wrong place, wrong time", as reported by The Associated Press.

Vincent Uveges a resident of the area told authorities that his family and he had been woken up suddenly by the screams and gunshots outside. Uvegas went on speaking to authorities, telling them "I saw three guys on the ground. Two of them was wounded and one was obviously dead. It was a lot of shots going off very quickly. The guy who was lying dead on the sidewalk had a gun,"as reported by The Associated Press.

Okay, so I'm tempted to scream "gun control" after all these shooting stories lately. :-) Good job on the reporting!

"Wrong place, wrong time". This could happen to any of us. Nice job reporting this.
