Door County, Wisconsin is a popular vacation destination, within a morning or afternoon's drive from Milwaukee, Wisconsin or Chicago, Illinois. Door county is located in what looks like thumb jutting out of Wisconsin, into Lake Michigan, of the Great Lakes. Door County attracts many visitors, with miles of unspoiled wooded area and shoreline to explore.

There are many attractions to scenic Door County, with lighthouses, shops, restaurants, wineries, and more. Washington Island, off the tip of Door County, can be traveled to via ferry.

The Door County Maritime Museum at Gills Rocks, at the north end of the county, features maritime history. This year there will be a new, one of a kind, exhibition about pirates .

Fish Creek is located about three quarters of the way up the Peninsula of Door County. The tiny hamlet was settled by fishermen and loggers, but soon became a summer resort community. Today Fish Creek is a center for the performing arts, with the country's oldest professional summer stock theater, the Peninsula Music Festival and a new 750 seat auditorium featuring entertainment.
