Summertime Recipes to Make You Look like a Hot Mom

When I got married (the first time) my Mother gave me a book called "With Love From My Kitchen" which were recipes from our family passed down through the generations. Though my marriage didn't last, the book definitely has become a favorite and I wanted to share out some great summer recipes that have made me a "Hot" Mom at every outing. What is a Hot Mom? Check out Jessica Denay's website to learn more about becoming a Hot Mom in your area. In one sentence Hot Mom's refuse to follow the typical stereotypes of motherhood and enjoy themselves, their spouse, and their families and keep it cool! I never considered myself very domestic but I come from good stock and their recipes speak clearly to me and help me to become a "hot" cook as well.

Mom's Dip (by Grandma)

This dip is a spa treatment for your veggies. Everyone will be clamoring for more and it's so simple!

2 - 8 oz packages cream cheese

½ medium carton small curd cottage cheese

2 beads of garlic (put through a garlic press)

2 green onion heads

¼ tsp tobasco

¼ tsp Worcestershire sauce

2 lg tbsp mayonnaise

Mix ingredients - add more mayo and a little milk to thin if desired
Wallah! You've spent less than 10 minutes and your dip is a hit!

For a great salad that you make 24 hours ahead of time you've got to try my Mother's 24 Hour Salad. She learned this in her senior high cooking class and I'm all about simple and tasty. Which this one certainly is...

24 Hour Salad:

1 medium size can pineapple chunks drained

2 small cans mandarin oranges drained

1 ¼ cup miniature marshmallows

1 cup shredded coconut (if desired)

1 cup sour cream

Mix fruit and all other ingredients. Pour over sour cream and let set 24 hours in the refrigerator. SUPER SIMPLE!

Dip N Chip Fryer Coating:

2 ½ to 3 lb. Fryer cut up

1 cup sour cream

1 cup potato chips crushed (preferably Lays)

Garlic Salt

Salt and Pepper to taste

Lazy days on the beach
