The idea that people can debate whether others can own and possess anything, let alone guns, in a free country is ironic. The very definition of freedom guarantees that people may buy and sell what they like. The only hard fact that applies to ALL aspects of freedom is this: you must know your responsibilities before you can know your rights. This lack of knowledge is what allows people to substitute faulty laws for their own moral values. It is also what allows corrupt politicians to thrive so long as they live within the letter of the law.
The right to own, carry and fire ANY weapon is guaranteed in the Constitution of the United States. Gun control advocates would argue that they have the right to force their opinions on us all regardless. Movies like Bowling for Columbine, while very controversial, don't even address the imperious question of WHY the militia and arms amendment was written immediately following the freedom of speech, press, religion, and the right to redress. The reason can be none other than "if the first amendment doesn't work the second will."
Michael Moore uses the dead to further his goals in a tasteless tactic of showing a dead boy to a very old man (Charlton Heston) tugging on our heart strings. Using emotional bitterness and irrational thinking to insinuate that he has a better grasp of the subject of freedom than the founding fathers is insulting to us all. That he didn't address this issue in a movie where gun control is the subject is irresponsible.

There are 800,000 physicians in the US and 170,000 accidental deaths by physicians. There were 80,000,000 registered guns but only 802 accidental gun deaths in the year 2001 (this is less than deaths by aspirin.)
