Contrary to popular belief, ezine advertising is still one of the most targeted forms of advertising on the internet. The reason is that most people only subscribe to ezines on a topic that they're interested in. For example, if someone has subscribed to an ezine about dieting, they are expressing an interest in their overall health, tips on improving their eating habits, exercising, and anything that has to do with the subject of dieting.

Ezines are still a good choice for advertising because of the targeted interest of the potential customer. Make sure your ads are related to the theme of the ezine. Your goal should always be to get targeted traffic. If your ad is highly related to the ezines topic, the person reading your ad is more likely to purchase what you have to offer.

A sponsor ad, a classified ad and a solo ad are usually the type of ads that can be placed in an ezine.

A sponsor ad is one that's placed at the top of the ezines content, usually under a heading. This five to ten line ad normally draw more attention because it's the very first thing the reader will see when the email is opened. You can expect a good click through rate when placing this type of ad.

Classified ads are smaller and the least expensive. This ad will run in a block with other classified ads. Make sure you can capture the users' interest, because you are not allowed to use a lot of text in these ads. It will only contain a very brief description and should contain a link to your web site or email address. This cost is a few dollars less than a sponsor ad because of the limitations.
