What to Look for When Buying New Sound Speakers

Buying a pair of sound system speakers may sound like an easy item to shop for and buy but let me tell you, it can be anything but easy. After looking at more than a dozen different models at Circuit City and after careful research through books and the internet, I now know quite a thing or two about sound system speaker shopping. Here is my advice in what to look for when buying speakers.

The first thing you need to do is think of the purpose of the speakers. Preferably, you want your speakers to have a purpose instead of sitting on your shelf looking pretty for when your friends come over to your house. Do you want your speakers to play music from your computer, Ipod, radio, CD player or television? What is your intended purpose for them? Do you want them to be used for any electronic item? I personally hook up my speakers to my portable DVD player, my Ipod, and computer. This brings me to my next point which is, do you want your speakers to be portable?

In today's age of modern technology, electronic items are being made smaller and more efficient. However, as a general rule, the bigger something is, the better it is and the more expensive it is. Do you want to be able to easily carry around your speakers from one place to another or do you want to keep them stationary on your desk next to your desktop computer? These are all considerations you need to take into account. I decided that I needed portable speakers that had a loud volume and could be used to fill up a medium sized room.

The size of the room and the wattage of the sound is also another consideration you need to think about? Who will be listening to your music? Is it just yourself in your room for your own personal enjoyment? Are you using the speakers to blast music for a house party or an event with a large amount of people? The greater the wattage, the bigger the sound speakers and the more money it will cost.
