Learning how to make a Magnetic Kitchen Backsplash is one of those awesome and simple crafts that can add a ton of value to any kitchen! If you are looking to update an outdated kitchen, find a new way to display some of the kid's artwork, organize your favorite recipes, or simply protect the backsplash in your kitchen, then you will love this simple DIY project.

I personally love this simple budget kitchen update project. It is easy to do and if you want to skip out on any of the cutting you can pay someone to do that for you!

To Make a Magnetic Backsplash for Your Kitchen You Will Need:

Circular saw
Newsprint or cardboard
Adhesive in a tube
Tape measure
Marker or pencil
Scissors or exacto knife
Carbide blade
Magnetic dry erase board sheets

The very first step in updating your kitchen and creating any custom backsplash is to measure the area behind you counters. That seems fairly obvious I am sure. You can start by measure how tall and wide the general shape of your kitchen backsplash is.

Now, measure this out on some cardboard or even roll out some newsprint and draw this out on there.

Now, use this template to hold up to your backsplash and draw in any small details. These details can be where the outlets are, as well as any changes in lines, shapes or size of your backsplash.

Use scissors to trim the paper to fit your kitchen backsplash exactly.

Now, once you have the custom pattern you need you want to lay your paper "pattern" out on your sheet of dry erase board.

Simply trace the pattern onto the board. Tip: Of course do not use a dry erase marker! Try a Sharpie!

Now, you are ready to cut out your custom backsplash. I recomend using a circular saw if possible. A jig saw might have the tendency to make jagged or rough edges on your custom backsplash. You could also pay someone to cut this out for you.

Tip: Be sure to use a carbide blade if you cut this yourself.

You are now ready to install your custom magnetic backsplash! Simply outline the back of the backsplash with the adhesive in the tube. Now, zigzag back and forth throughout the center.

Place the backsplash on the kitchen wall and press into place.

Let this dry and enjoy!

Takeaways
  • Use scissors to trim the paper to fit your kitchen backsplash exactly.
  • Simply trace the pattern onto the board.
