Hilton Head Island, South Carolina is one of the more popular vacation destinations in the Southeastern United States. Hilton Head Island is home of over 12 miles of beach, nature preserves, shopping, dining, and so much more. If you are thinking of visiting Hilton Head Island on vacation or just taking a weekend trip, I thought I would give you a few pros and cons of visiting the island. I have been visiting Hilton Head Island since 2003.

The Pros

One of the greatest advantages Hilton Head Island has to other beach destinations is the natural beauty of the island. The strict building codes and environmentally friendly construction make for a distinct nature feel that other beach destinations do not have. Buildings are set back from the road, no bright or flashy colors are used on buildings, and there are strict sign restrictions laws as well. This allow for an island that is full of development to still look beautiful.

Another great thing about HHI is the dining options. The area is full of great restaurants that are sure to please all types of tastes. Obviously, there are many great options when it comes to seafood. Some of my favorite seafood restaurants include The Old Oyster Factory, The Crazy Crab, Red Fish, and Charley's Crab. Some other great restaurants for people who are not as into seafood include Sticky Fingers, The Salty Dog Cafe, Marley's, and Kurama.

Hilton Head is also a great place for families. I have been to other popular beach vacation destinations that can have a large crowd of people who want to party. If you want to take your kids to a place where you don't have to worry about seeing drunk college kids, Hilton Head Island is that place. I love the family atmosphere that the island offers. There are many great activities on the island for families including dolphin tours, banana boats, concerts, and much more.

Our Favorite Place: We travel around to see the sights From coast to coast, by auto and plane Sometimes just two and other times all three We explore the wonders of nature's beauty. We visited both spots where Mickey can be found We climbed the mountain where Trapp's abound Saw the desert of palms and Roy Rodger's place The walk of stars and the lowest place. Oh the City of Lights where the pack once played Money and chips on green felt are laid A dam so big with a wondrous new bridge The canyon so grand that the Colorado made The valley of the sun and Desert's Ridge. Red rocks to the north, the Dutchman's find to the east The winged creature rises up and flies towards the sun Mountains and sand combine in the heat. To the beaches of palms, where the rich and famous stay The oval track where the Petty's play Ah the TPC that the pros call home Gump's bench and the feather array. The majestic Rockies surround Redford's home Silly Park City and Hebre's
