Networking. When you're hitting the random parties in your neighborhood, you might run into someone who can help make your career more stable or even get you in touch with a job opening. Don't let your career out of the back of your mind during summer partying and make sure to grab hold of any opportunity that presents itself.
Summer partying can boost your career by forcing you to meet new people, which is sometimes more difficult during the winter months. We tend to stay inside when it's cold out and avoid long visits in the weather. When the air is warm and there's more to do, you can take every opportunity to meet new people.
Long Weekends. Many people choose to use their vacation time sporadically during the summer in the form of several long weekends. This gives you an opportunity to periodically rejuvenate over the course of the hotter months, sharpening your mind and allowing you to spread out the work. A better attitude will help you to be more productive, and therefore will boost your career, even if you're engaging in some summer partying.
Office Get-Togethers. Just like during the December Christmas Party, many offices have get-togethers during which you can socialize with some of the higher-ups. Even if they are informal meetings, such as a drink after work or a trip to the beach on the weekends, office parties are a great opportunity to get noticed - in a good way.
Just be careful not to spend too much time in the office during the summer. Break it up by spending quality time with your family and alone on solitary excursions. There's something to be said for having too much of a good thing.
