If you live in Wausau, Wisconsin or as just passing through, a great restaurant to eat at is the Wausau Mine Company. With their awesome food and cozy atmosphere it will be guaranteed that you will want to eat there again.

The Wausau Mine Company is located 3904 West Stewart Avenue in Wausau. The unique part about their menu is that everything is made from scratch. From homemade soups, to pasta sauces, if it is on the menu, it's made from scratch. When you try the food you will be able to taste the difference. Another unique thing about their menu is it is completely healthy. No deep fried fish and fries on the menu It is all broiled, baked, pan fried, or charbroiled food.

When you walk into the restaurant, you will immediately see the unique dining atmospehre that they have. They have recreated the "Mine Shaft" look so that the customers feel like they are in a mine on an adventure. The look of the walls and the ceilings will make you think that you are actually in a mine. It is nice to go into different themed restaurants and get away from the same old every day restaurants. The Wausau Mine Company is a great place for that.

The food here is to die for! It is so good. They offer different sorts of appetizers, sandwiches, soups, and salads. And of course nightly specials chosen by the chef. My favorite is their home made pizzas! We always order the chicken alfredo pizza called the Mine Coop. It may sound bad, but it itastes really good. The Mexican food they offer there is also very tasty. Other then those items they have filets, ribeyes, broiled fish, seafood salads, and lots of other items! You won't have a problem finding something to order. The problem will be which one to choose. Also try an order of their Italian fries! Those are a must have also.

They do take large parties there also. Just call ahead and make a reservation. Everytime I have gone there, they have been really busy. But with the quality of food that they cook it is easy to see why the people flock there. Also the prices are actually cheap for the portion sizes that you get. Prices range from anywhere between $2.50 to $13.50 depending on what you order.
