Speak of the Devil and His Horns Shall Appear

You have signed up, logged in and ready to display your journalistic prowess to the world through the Msnbc owned Newsvine.com. Never mind this Code Of Honor gibberish, for you are a good
person, a patriot, and an artist. You are a sensible person and it's always been generally known that an aggressive tone has never played a part in your work. Think again.

The Code of Honor, otherwise understood as the "submission guidelines" on other less military termed online publishing websites, can be enforced like a War Hammer swinging down on some hapless geek on his first trip out of town. Simply reading the vaguely worded Code is not enough. You must live by it, or else. A quick search engine inquiry will produce plenty of stories and paranoia to scare the average typing freak into staying far away. It's either that or go straight into Attack Mode. Which is what happened to a dear friend and now it is affecting me perpetually. He couldn't even make it 24 hours before complete and total wipe-out of his two original pieces. There are things to be learned here.

1. Do Not Speak Of The Nazi
Whether it is a reference, comparison, attempted humor or a genuinely vicious attack on someone, this word will trigger a meltdown of your whole existence on Newsvine. There are certainly other words that may have the same effect, but this is a sure thing.

2. Do Not Use Vivid Or Picturesque Metaphors
You may think your work is visionary, almost mind altering. Full of wisdom beyond your age and at the same time hilarious - but the Code Police are not laughing. They are going to have a talk with you, yes-sir. There are no jokes. The truth is the funniest joke of all.

3. Do Not Apologize
Yes, these are the Top 3 Things Not To Do Or Say on Newsvine and if you Do Not apologize you will have no chance at having your account and liveliness revived. After you've been locked out of your account and a deep sense of embarrassment starts taking over, you will be offered to submit a query as to why you are no longer approved in the community. They may even hint that if you apologize, not to the readers, but to the Code Of Honor directors, they will consider making you whole again. Grovel or go home.

Last night I had a reoccurring nightmare that I was beaten by police in Chicago and strung up on an iron pole and mocked for three days, all for wearing the wrong shoes. Violence, angst and a penchant for th...  View profile

The Supreme Court today ruled unanimously that the Communications Decency Act violates the First Amendment. Writing for the court, Justice John Paul Stevens held that "the CDA places an unacceptably heavy burden on protected speech" and found that all provisions of the CDA are unconstitutional as they apply to "indecent" or "patently offensive" speech.
The supreme court has already ruled against censoring of the nature that newsvine is guilty of. It is only a matter of time before they are shut down. The freak tyler will go back to flipping burgers at a no name slop joint and we will all move on to nice sites like this. Great job sir, sincerely.
Hell, even the regulars are beginning to notice the obvious bullshit floating at Newsvine: http://pacrat100.newsvine.com/_news/2010/05/24/4340494-what-is-going-on-with-the-vine "Story after story, all I saw was mainly people who agreed with the poster jumping feet first on anyone who disagreed...Case in point, a seed came on talking about drilling permits issued in the gulf. At the time, there weren't any disagreeing views or people posting with more information, just people talking about something they know little about just on the wrong information that was in the story. Granted, I could of jumped in and corrected it, but why would I jump into an area where as soon as I post that I'll get jumped on or collapsed due to having an opposing view? I may of worked the oilfield for a few years and try to keep current, as well as friends that still work the "oilpatch", but my views wouldn't match others so I will be branded a heretic and burned." I tried to login to my newsvine account today only to find it was disabled. I am baffled! I have only been there a couple of weeks and had only posted about ten links to news stories. None of them were my own! I really don't understand what I did to deserve to have my account disabled, although I'm really not going to lose any sleep over it...
Good shit Waldo. After all, this is America.
Newsvine is a haven for thin-skinned alarmists. Goofy ignorant bastards. Fuck Newsvine.
There is definitely a slant towards viciousness in the way they come across to the average freak wanting their side of the story to be heard. The only way to kill the pain of being a man is to become a beast. They have awoken the beast.
Newsvine SUCKS! I think it's run by Nazi's and Racists... Or, they just don't want to PAY the contributors. Cheap dirtbags.
Nice article!
