MSG: Food Chemical Allergy Found in Areas Other Than Chinese Cuisine

MSG is a Significant Health Risk for Many Consumers

Each day, many adults suffer from complications associated with food chemical allergies. Of these complications, many will suffer from headache pain and extreme lethargy. Of the food chemicals that imposes a significant complication, there is one that is commonly found in restaurant food
products and we don't even realize it.

Known as monosodium Glutamate, MSG, this biological component is found throughout our bodies naturally, as a key component of protein molecules. Health complications persist when the glutamic acid, found within the protein, separates and begins to flow freely through our bodily fluids, binding with the sodium we ingest in food products.

The health complications arise when we consume foods that contain MSG which results in a significant fluctuation in our body's natural rhythm and metabolism, thereby leading to health complications such as headache pain and diarrhea. In some patients, extreme thirst will set in, bloating occurs and even muscle fatigue and pain sets in. While these are all short term complications, the individual who consumes MSG often finds the entire day has become unproductive based on the food chemical reaction.

Many restaurants, today, use MSG products such as hydrolyzed vegetable protein and even vegetables that contain high levels of MSG, such as peas and corn. In many cases, these food additives and products are simply used based on the increased flavor they add to our meals. Chinese based ethnic entrees, traditionally, contain high levels of MSG.

So, how do we avoid consuming large levels of MSG? First, ask your waiter or waitress about the food items they know contain MSG. Also, avoid food products that contain not only fresh peas and corn but also those products that contain processed meats, such as sausage, and aged cheeses, commonly used in Italian foods. Additionally, the avoidance of artificial sweeteners is important as many will contain MSG, leading to health complications if consumed in large quantities.

Huh. I've found plenty of American/domestic foods in my cupboard with MSG in the ingredients, and yet there's no warning label. However, every stereotypically Asian item I have has "NO MSG" stamped on it.

This is wonderful to know. I have problems with MSG. I get severe headaches and now avoid Chinese places that use it. I had no idea it could be found in so many other places.
