It's official, Rosie O'Donnell has left The View, and doing so earlier than when she had previously announced she would. Roughly two weeks ago, Rosie O'Donnell announced that she would be leaving The View in a months time. Many rumors flew as to the reasoning for this. Immediately, the rumors flew that ABC had had enough and that Rosie had been fired from the show. Half of those watching The View, ratings or not would be jumping for joy if that were the case. However in a statement from ABC last Friday, they said that Rosie had asked for an early exit from her remaining time on her contract, and it was granted to her. Perhaps ABC allowed Rosie to save face, and gave her "the ultimatum," voluntarily leave with a public statement from us to go along with that, or get canned from the show. Either way she's gone from the show, now.

With all of the controversy surrounding the outspoken Rosie O'Donnell, what was the real reason for her departure, possible ultimatum or not? Some said it was because of the on-air shouting match she and Elizabeth Hasslebeck, wife of quarterback Matt Hasslebeck. You may recall the two erupted into a shouting match over none other than politics. Rosie O'Donnell is a Democrat, while Elizabeth Hasslebeck is a Republican. The two have been at odds with each other almost from the moment Rosie O'Donnell joined the panel of women. And since that on-air debacle, which by the way, had studio audience members at the time quite uncomfortable at the time, the two never could quite get back to a level of civility without it being painfully obvious that each was gritting her own teeth, and holding back the anger for each other that had finally come to a head that fateful morning.

You got it right, Ohmemercyl, all this piece is, a bunch of "speculation". Rosie didn't call the troops terrorists, she said Iraqi civilians regard the unwarranted invasion of their country as a "terrorist act" the same way we would if someone came to the US, unprovoked, and attacked us. She has said again and again and again, ad nauseum, that she supports the troops and wants them home. She blames the people in the White House for starting this illegal and unwinnable war. Rosie has done more for Patriotism, disenfranchised children and the poor neglected veterans of this war in this country with her own money than anyone else I see. She's a true red-blooded American, heads and tails over our own President, in my humble opinion

...maybe not.

Rosie O'Donnell made a big boo-boo when she said the U.S. and it's troops were the terrorists. Even if that were to be true, just not something you do and not catch hell for it, especially when the winds of opinion are blowing that way. And as for the last poster, that is the thing about "gossip," it's usually biased- and speculation, rumors, etc. That's why it's called gossip. And that something wasn't "officially" reported by either ABC or Rosie doesn't negate it "possibly," as the columnist expressly says throughout the article, happening behind closed doors. maybe it did go down exactly the way Rosie and ABC reported it.

what utter nonsense! filled w/biased assumptions, conjecture based on nothing. you have no indication that any of this is true, other than what you saw on The View itself. rosie dramatically increased the show's ratings, and she's been overwhelmingly popular. where is it indicated that what rosie & ABC have reported is not the actual truth. she went in for a year, fulfilled the deal, they wanted her to sign for 3 more yrs, she only wanted to sign for one. end of story. rosie's being demonized the same way michael moore was a while back. w/his new movie coming out, the pigfuckers will start picking on him again & forget about Demon Rosie for a minute. i'm so weary of everyone's lies and bullshit.
