How to Write a Love Song

Are you having a difficult time figuring out how to write a love song that will catch a person's attention? Perhaps you want something to offer for your wife's birthday, or your wedding anniversary. Perhaps it's just for no reason at all. Whatever it is, writing a love song is no walk in
the park. However, if it comes from the heart, there's no reason why you should feel you're treading on thin ice. Here are some helpful hints on how you can make that perfect love song worthy for your special someone.

1) Use their name in the song.

Using their name in the song is not mandatory. However, if you are able to incorporate their name into it, it will have a much better effect. This will show the other person that the song that you made is specifically dedicated to him or her. It makes the song more personal, and therefore, more effective and meaningful. If you do not know the person's name, then this is the perfect time to know it. Getting the first name is enough.

2) Decide on a title.

Aside from the lyrics, a person's name can also be used in the title, to make it more specific to him or her. This will definitely show that the song is tailored for that certain person. If you do not intend on using the person's name for the title, then make sure that the title will express or define the message of the song. Remember that the title is going to be the thing that everyone remembers.

3) Use the title in the lyrics.

In order for your title to stick to people's minds, you need to use the title in the lyrics of your song. You can do this by asking the questions the title wants to have answered. If your title is about a girl, then ask questions like "Who is she?", and "What is she doing?" How you answer these questions will determine what your love song is all about.

4) Write the lyrics.

When writing your lyrics, make sure that you accompany it with a musical instrument. What happens if you don't is that your lyrics would look like a poem. Usually, what you get when you write lyrics without music is bad poetry. So try and write lyrics down while being accompanied by a music instrument.

Make sure that your melody is emotionally true, meaning that you sing it in the way that you feel it. This is always a good way to go when writing love songs.
