Cheer Free & Gentle Gives Me Best of Both Worlds

New Detergent Has a Lot of Cleaning Power but Does Not Affect Sensitive Skin

When I was single, my laundry detergent of choice was Cheer. I had tried ever other brand on the market and couldn't find one that cleaned as well while helping my clothes last as long as possible.

When I met my wife and we started doing laundry together, I had to stop using Cheer. While I'm able to use pretty much anything on my clothes, she has sensitive skin and is limited to detergents that don't have any dyes or perfumes in them. And, later, when we had our daughter, I suddenly found myself in a house with two people who had sensitive skin. While this shouldn't be a big deal, I have always felt the detergents made specifically for this don't have the same cleaning power as the regular detergents.

So, when Cheer finally came out with their new Free & Gentle variety, I had to give it a try and sent for the free sample. Based on what I saw from that, I'm more than willing to spend the extra money to buy it at the store.

The Free & Gentle offers the same format many more expensive brands offer. It eliminates the dyes and the perfumes and is specifically formulated for people who have sensitive skin or might be allergic to those things. Since I know none of that bothers me, I had my wife try the sample on some of her clothing and, after wearing them, she found no ill effects from it. While the original Cheer makes her break out in hives, the Free & Gentle variety does not.

We also washed one of my daughter's shirts in the same load of laundry and, much like my wife; she did not develop a rash from the new detergent. So, that was not false advertising.

What sold me on the Free & Gentle, however, was the cleaning power.

The shirt I had added to the load to test the product on my daughter had a big juice stain down the middle of it that had actually been there for some time but didn't get removed with our other detergent. When we washed the shirt in the Free & Gentle, the stain came out completely. I'm not sure how they managed to do it, but Cheer has managed to produce a product that every one in my family can use without sacrificing the one thing that attracted me to the brand in the first place.
