After months of staring at the TV, frozen dinners alone and laughing by myself at the movies, I decided it was time to jump into the online dating arena. It all seems so easy on the commercials, just enter your profile, tell people what you want and viola you will soon have girls calling you day and night and be hooked up for life.

Now if one service is good enough I figured why not join four or five services and see what happens. I joined www.singlesnet.com, of course Yahoo singles, www.true.com and for grins and giggles www.adultfriendfinders.com.

Now comes the hard part filling out the profile and bragging about myself. It's certainly not easy to do, but it must be done in order to attract those ladies that are out there waiting to hear from me. I plowed through the questions, trying my best to be honest but then I had to stop and try to figure out what to do when it said "Body Type" and they gave me some options such as "athletic" or "slim" or "average" or "slightly overweight" and then "obese". Well I wanted to be honest of course I mean if I meet these ladies in person the cat was going to be out of the bag, if I had blatantly lied. I looked down at the beer belly and reluctantly put "slightly overweight".

I then completed the rest of the questions and then came to the part about adding a photo. Now this was a big step for me. Did I want all my co-workers and friends to see that I had "stooped" to the desperate measures of going online trying to find a date? Did I want to advertise the fact that I couldn't seem to find a date the normal way and here I was baring my soul to the world online hoping for that right person to find me? I decided to skip loading the picture and sent in my profile and waited by the inbox for those requests for information to come flying into me. And I waited, and I waited.

As you might have guessed nothing happened. Sure the online dating service sent me several "perfect matches" but every time I emailed that perfect match I got no response. I'm sure it's just a scheme the dating services cook up to make it look like you have activity.
