The presidential campaigns are already underway and we are still in the year 2007. The enormous amount of money that has been raised by presidential hopefuls is unheard of and campaign fundraising is shattering previous records held by both political parties. While almost every politician has declared himself or herself for the office of the presidency, there is one intriguing politician who has yet to do so: Fred Thomson. Fred Thompson. Thompson is a former Republican Senator from Tennessee who is very conservative in his views.

Fred Thompson has gained widespread popularity through his acting on the hit television show Law & Order, serving as the District Attorney as the boss of Jack McCoy, played by Sam Waterstone.

However, the main problem that Fred Thompson has is that there are so many politicians who have declared themselves for the office of the presidency that most people think Fred Thompson won't even have a chance. The front runners for the Republican Party are currently John McCain and Rudolph Giuliani but both of their numbers in the polls have dropped tremendously. Another interesting point to consider is that neither candidate is liked by right wing conservatives or evangelical Christians. Fred Thompson has been known as a straightforward politician with conservative values and if he were to declare his candidacy, he may just have enough votes to win the Republican primary.
