As a native Tucsonan, I'm use to the dry Arizona heat pretty much year round. Anytime warm weather hits, runny makeup inevitable follows. While the official start of Summer is June 21st, I watch the temperature creep up to 100 degrees plus while it's still spring, and I feel my makeup melt down. My makeup meltdown usually occurs mid day, and mid activity. I have yet to find a powder that can absorb all the beads of sweat that collectively gather around the nose, hairline and rim of the chicest sunglasses - and believe me I've tried them all! Foundation, forget it! Water or oil based is no match for humidity, and can leave your skin looking greasy instead of dewy. I have oily skin and know that while I can't completely get rid of shine, I've picked up some tips and tricks along the way to help ease summertime - anytime, warm weather makeup woes.

1. Sunscreen/ Sun block - Water resistant with SPF 15 or higher, use it year round, everyday. It should contain ingredients that block UVB and UVA rays.
Here are the basics -

* Apply to skin 15 - 30 minutes prior to going outdoors

* Make sure you reapply every two hours

* Use approximately one ounce or a shot glass full to cover all exposed skin.

* Don't forget your lips! Apply lip balm that contains sunscreen with SPF 15 or higher.

* Avoid sun exposure between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. That is the when UV rays are most intense, so seek shade!

* Wear lightweight long sleeve loose fitting clothing to cover up. Wide - brimmed hats, and sunglasses are a must.

* If your sunscreen has a funny smell, different color or is past the expiration date, toss it out and get a new bottle.

Sunscreen / Sun block has become a beauty routine staple and can be applied prior to foundation. Lightweight or gel formulas are also available. It's a good idea when applying any sunscreens, facial cream or moisturizers to wait approximately 5 minutes for it to set before applying your foundation. Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Sun block Gel, SPF 45 ($17.00), Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry - Touch Sun block with Helioplex, SPF 55 ($17.00), and Neutrogena Fresh Cooling Body Mist Sun block Spray, SPF 45 ($10.00) are among the best.
