When my highly obnoxious case of the chickenpox left me, little did I know that I should have listened to mother when she yelled "Do not itch!" As a result, I was left with a huge scar in the center of my forehead. I have been self-conscious all of my life because of this scar. I have even had some expensive surgery on it. Believe it or not, the surgery was a waste of money and time. After, practically no results from the surgery, I began using a cream called Mederma. A much cheaper and convenient alternative to surgery, Mederma actually made a difference. When I would have laser treatments, my face would be bandaged for approximately a week. None of this was necessary with Mederma which I simply bought at my local pharmacy.

I believe one of the key ingredients in Mederma is oninon extract which has a peeling effect on the skin which causes the skin to regenerate. If the cost of Mederma is a little frightening ($30 for a large tube which lasts for several months) and $17 for a small tube, this product can be bought on sale. There are also immitation products which look like the original Mederma package and have similar ingredients. I believe that CVS has one.

So, if you are serious about reducing the appearance of your scar and want to do it at a cheap price, Mederma is right for you. Keep in mind that you must follow the directions of frequently applying the cream. The company claims that it may take up to three months to see results. Results are also more easily seen depending on the severity of the scar. My scar, is very old and still the cream was able to make a difference. Family and friends noticed the difference, so I know that I am not the only one.
