How many times have you heard this on a news report dealing with immigration: I lost my job to an illegal alien who was willing to work for less than me?

Doesn't that logic just kill you? It's so…so…American. Let's blame the guy who is making twice what he would make in his home country even though he's making half what you make. And do you know why he's making half what you make?

BECAUSE SOMEBODY IS WILLING TO EXPLOIT HIM IN ORDER TO INCREASE PROFIT!

The solution to the illegal hiring of illegal immigrants is one of the few problems faced by America today that has a simple solution. And no, I don't mean building a wall along the southern border. And no I don't mean arming Texans to patrol those borders. Arming Texans for any reason is generally not a good idea, okay?

No, the solution to the problem of immigration goes hand in hand with the real problem that illegal immigration poses. You can't fairly blame a person for taking a job that pays less than you. That's like blaming the New York Yankees for paying ballplayers more than the Kansas City Royals. Oh wait, people do that all the time. The same people who were scared to death of the communist threat also take issue the central tenet of capitalism: Those with the most money have the most power. You can't escape it. That is the very essence of capitalism.

And capitalism is the very essence of our illegal immigrant problem. Do you honestly blame the owner of a business for employing a Mexican national for two bucks an hour and no benefits? Well, yeah, if you expect that people who take advantage of the system called capitalism should have a conscience. But the fact is that 99% of the people who take advantage of all the great opportunities that American gives them don't have a conscience.

Which brings us to the solution. Instead of punishing the poor guy who wants to come to America to carve out a better future for himself-like Arnold Schwarzenegger and Elton John-why not punish the people who are really responsible?

Could the key to ending illegal immigration be jailing employers?

Takeaways
  • The blame is with the employer, not the ilegal employee.
  • Solution: Send the business owner to jail for five years for every illegal he employs.
  • By business owner, I mean the guy at the very top of the corporate structure.

ICE should do everything in their power to stop illegal immigrants and the threats that they pose. I am for arming the border with mines. The illegal aliens will think again about breaking American laws. They will think about if that last walk will result in a "leg up" on the laws broken to get into America!

Illegal immigrants and their families can call the hot line, at 714-973-7806, to report immigration raids, detentions, missing people or any abuse of power by ICE or local law enforcement.

I've worked in Human Resources before. I honestly agree with Timothy that people would not hire illegal immigrants if they were facing jail time. I know the owner of my company would be on my back day in and day out to make sure that those hired are U.S. citizens. How do we find out who is hiring illigal immigrants though? A customer can't just go up to a cashier and ask "Are you here illigally?" Honestly there are a lot of people to blame. Companies for hiring illegal immigrants, citizens for selling illegal SS#, and consumers for not being informed about where they shop.

Some discuss consumers as dim-witted people, blindly following the good prices. Well, yes, this is a consumer in America and probably most places in the world. However, should the consumer not commit to some responsibility? If we do not wish to pay high prices but do not wish to have illegal immigrants, then who is to blame? Is the producer (the CEO) not giving the consumer what they demand in this free-market society? And yes, rising costs would invite competition. Again, don't we live in a theoretically, free-market society. Personally, I would love to see competition. I would love to see the corporations crumble into many little enterprises. I would like to see an even distribution of wealth. How does that happen? The working class in the U.S. and the working class in say, Mexico or Guatemala, join forces and demand a living wage, fair labor practices, and for the government of the U.S. to stop intervening in their affairs causing them to live under repressive regimes which causes t

also immediately set 75% of the US prison population free. So that addresses your rather misplaced concern about where to put criminals who are breaking laws.

Do you know what happens when you fine an employer? He makes it up the loss by increasing prices or cutting wages. In essence, what would happen by fining employers is that they would be forced to hire illegal immigrants willing to work for ever less. Fines don't hurt business owners. They only hurt employees and consumers. No, nameless coward, there is only one way to punish employers who are illegally hiring illegal immigrants that will actually result in punishment: toss them in jail. And by the way, no business owner ever "created a job." It is consumers who are willing to buy what the business produces that creates jobs. And if you are so worried about overcrowded prisons, there's a very easy way to thin that population out. Let's start being honest and fair about legalizing drugs. If we legalize drugs and slap a tax on it, not only we do run most drug dealers out of business the same way most bootleggers were run out of business with the repeal of prohibition, but we
