The ministry of the Prophet is one of the most powerful gifts in the Body of Christ. Who is there that does not want to have a direct word from God? But with its power there is also responsibility, however some use it as the opportunity to merchandise it, panhandle it, and manipulate with it.

For over twenty years the prophetic movement has gone from one extreme to the next. In the eighties it was manipulative, claiming God said people were to marry certain people, stay loyal to extremist and sinners. The 90's brought suspicion because of all the abuse. Those who genuinely did have a prophetic gift were shunned, shutdown, and blamed for things they did not do. This new season has brought a refreshing return of the prophetic, but where the Spirit of the Lord is the devil always tries to deceive some.

Prophecy is not wrong by any means of the word, but with the Internet there has been birthed a new type, and it is far more damaging because there will rarely be any accountability or correction of bad behavior or words. Some of the prophets who were shunned have taken their cause to the Internet. They insist that they have a Word from God and demand you hear it, and pay for it. The problem is that many of these prophets are lone rangers. They have no legitimate oversight from proven leaders. Many have become a part of new group called, 'out of Church Christians." This is a group that no longer believes in attending Church or being under the leadership of a Pastor. How they justify it with the Scripture on "not forsaking the assembling (Hebrews 10:25)" one can only imagine.

There seem to be three groups when it comes to the prophetic:

Takeaways
  • Thieves are Charging People to Hear from God
  • A Prophecy can cost $20 and up
Did You Know?
Psychics and Prophets share the same gift, but generally the "source" is different.
