Supernatural's Season Finale: All Hell Breaks Loose

Season finales are always dramatic, but Supernatural really closed Season Two with a bang! A two part finale had viewers on the edges of their seats, waiting for the second part and left everyone itching for more in Season Three.

In the first part of the finale, All Hell Breaks Loose, Part 1, we finally learn part of the yellow-eyed demon's plans for Sam. He vanishes mysteriously and reappears in a ghost town, along with four other demon kids. They are there to battle to the finish, the last one standing will walk out alive.

Sam being the nice guy that he is, tries to herd everyone together and keep them safe, using his knowledge of demons to the group's benefit. However, Ava, a fellow psychic who vanished five months earlier after saving Sam's life, suddenly reveals what she has learned in all this time. Her special powers have increased and she can control demons, which she does with deadly skill.

The first three contestants are quickly killed off, leaving just Sam and a young soldier, Jake. Jake quickly turns on Sam and uses his super strength to try and defeat him, but good prevails and our hero manages to knock the super soldier out. Just then, Dean and their friend, Bobby, show up to rescue Sam and in true horror movie style, Jake rises up and stabs Sam in the back.

This first part of the finale ends with Sam dying in Dean's arms and shocked viewers around the globe.

Part Two begins with a tear-jerking scene (the stoic Dean cries over Sam's body) and although we were hoping that it wasn't true, there is Sam, dead as a doornail. Bobby heads off to continue fighting evil while Dean decides to give up the pursuit that has cost him everything in his life and sit with the body of his brother.

However, the series isn't called Supernatural for nothing! A pact with a crossroads demon brings dear Sammy back to life, but how human is he? The brothers are off again, this time to stop the wayward Jake from opening the gates of Hell. They don't make it in time and the crypt is opened, spewing forth the evils from the bowels of the earth.
