For over seventy years, the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts has been a cultural center in Montgomery, Alabama. The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts showcases the largest collection of visual art available in Central Alabama.

The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts was originally founded in 1930 by a group of local artists and art lovers. Often referred to as the Alabama Society of Fine Arts, the group first assembled the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts in an old school house on the corner of High and Lawrence Streets in downtown Montgomery, Alabama. The Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts remained at this location for 21 years before being moved to a more suitable location.
