The long awaited release of NBC’s short lived series Freaks and Geeks frustrated many erstwhile fans of the show, who had waited for it to return since its run in the 1999-2000 NBC schedule. The wait was worth the DVD that was released, however, as the Freaks and Geeks DVD has an extensive viewing experience for the comedy starved fans. The Freaks and Geeks series, centered around the Weir family in 1980 Michigan, features future stars James Franco (as the rebellious Daniel Desario), Seth Rogen (as the wise cracking Ken) and comedy veteran Joe Flaherty (as the Weirr family patriarch). The main holdup on the Freaks and Geeks DVD was getting permission to use the extensive collection of great songs from each participating band but it is a necessary move in order to make the show complete.

Episode Guide:

Pilot- In the pilot episode of Freaks and Geeks, the Weir kids are introduced. Lindsey Weir (Linda Cardellini) is an intelligent young woman who struggles with trying to find her role in high schools. The conflict between her clean living friends, like her neighbor Millie, and her “freak” friends, like Daniel Desario and Nick Andopolis, is a common theme in Freaks and Geeks, but in the end she tries to balance both out by keeping in touch with Millie. Lindsey has problems with Kim Kelley and with her guidance counselor, Mr. Rosso. Meanwhile, Sam Weir (John Francis Daley) and his friends, Neil Schweiber (Samm Levine) and Bill Haverchuck (Martin Starr), are tormented by a school bully. In the end, Neil and Bill fight for survival with this bully while Sam is kept back by his crush, Cindy Sanders.
