5. "Halloween" {1978}- John Carpenter's 1978 classic was frightening from beginning to end. From the terrifying opening scenes looking through the eyes of young Michael Myers to looking at the scariest mask ever created for a movie later on. What really made this classic so memorable was the chilling music score from John Ottman, that scares us silly whenever we hear it to this day. This film also made Jamie Lee Curtis a household name. Interesting Fact- The original screenplay was titled "The Babysitter Murders"
4. "The Shining"- {1980}- Stephen King's novel about tormented writer Jack Torrence was made into a film in 1980 directed by Stanley Kubrick and starring Jack Nicholson. The film 's chilling account of one man's descent into madness scared audiences to death with its many memorable scenes. Stanley Kubrick's film keeps you on the edge of your seat with its many themes and a stunning performence from Nicholson. Interesting Fact- Stanley Kubrick allowed his then-17-year-old daughter, Vivian, to make a documentary about the production of "The Shining". The rare seen making of is included in the DVD release.
