Domestic is no joke and unfortunately it is a sad reality that will not go away, many woman and children are becoming victims of domestic abuse and refuse to take out a restraining order on the abuser which is usually the boyfriend, child's father or husband because they don't want the restraining order to affect the abuser's record, they are either too scared to obtain an order, or they choose to remain in denial. If you are being abused, you are not being loved and it is especially important to protect yourself and/or child, protective orders can save your life. A protective order states that the abuser has to stay away from you and (your children, If you want) If the abuser calls, approaches, or even talks to you he/she is violating the order and you should call the police immediately, so that he/she can be arrested.. If you are in need of obtaining an order here is how to do it;

Obtain significant information about your abuser such as name address, birth date, social security number (if applicable) phone number, work address, license plate number, a picture of the abuser, and any information about your abuser that would show a history of drug use, or possession of fire arms. Hold on to this information tightly because you will need it when you file for the restraining order. If you don't have much information on the abuser a name and/or address will suffice.

Obtain your own personal information; this will be needed to file the order; bring your mass I.D. Driver's license or a photo I.D....
