Spring Lake is a 60 minute ride from my home in North Jersey. My Dad died several years ago and one of my fondest memories is spending Wednesdays and Saturdays in Spring Lake, Belmar and Ocean Grove with him and my Mom. My Dad would pull into my driveway at 6 A.M. and beep the horn. My husband was usually still asleep. DIdn't matter Dad would still beep the horn. I'd get in the car with my pillow and sleep all the way down.

After my Dad died, my husband and I would take the ride down there, sometimes for the day, sometimes for the week end. It made me feel close to my Dad.We'd stay at Seacrest by the Sea a charming VIctorian Bed & Bath on Tuttle Ave. The Seacrest had lovely owners, charming restored rooms with themes, usually a view of the Ocean and the best gourmet breakfasts by candlelight. The stuffed French toast was a dream. We would be eating family style with yogurts, fresh fruits, assorted wonderful rich foods and marvelous rolls. Every day there was a delicious high tea.The Seacrest offers a fireplace in every room, 2 person spa tub, stocked refridgerator, complimentary wine, Godiva Chocoloates , Fluffly robes and featherbeds where you will sleep like a baby. It was rated Top 10 Most Romantic Inns in 2006. You can reserve a champangne midnight picnic.and it's only 75 minutes from New York or Philadelphia.
