United States of Americane out as often as possible. When I discovered this restaurant, I fell in love with it. I could finally enjoy the best of two worlds. I am able to dine out and still indulge my craving for a home cooked meal.
Blue Dog Cafe is located at 1211 West Pinhook Road in Lafayette, Louisiana, 337-237-0005. The atmosphere is family friendly and very lively. While enjoying the wonderful food, you also get a taste of southern Louisiana's music. There is a live band that plays in the restaurant on a regular basis. On the weekend, you can enjoy smooth sounding jazz. This can create a very intimate atmosphere for you and your significant other. Art lover would fall in love with the ambiance of the restaurant because it is decorated with beautiful art. The owner of the restaurant, George Rodrigue, shares his own private collection of art for display.
The food was so mouth watering and delicious. Since I am an avid seafood fan, I decided to try a seafood platter. Not only was I impressed with the awesome flavor, but I was equally impressed with the quantity of food. I had enough left overs to last me for two days. This proved to be a great benefit for me. The platter consisted of stuffed crabs, fried oysters, catfish, shrimp, and a couple of other items.
The next time I plan to visit, I think I'll try the Catfish Blue Dog. The catfish is topped with crawfish etoufee`. It is served with roasted rosemary potatoes and sauteed seasonal vegetables.
The pricing for the dishes were very reasonable and I have no regrets. This restaurant has become one of my favorite restaurants of all time. I have no complaints about the food or the atmosphere. Everyone I have spoke to concerning this restaurant has said the same thing. Many of my friends that do not live in the area also make it a point to visit this restaurant regularly.
